Panthers take two from Birds
They won game one 3-2 and took the second one 19-5.
Brea Stanton pitched a three hitter in the opener. She fanned five and walked four while giving up solo runs in the sixth and seventh.
Brittany Lawinger was 2x3 with two runs scored and Lara Daentl was also 2x3.
Lawinger was hit by a pitch to open the bottom of the seventh. Following a sacrifice bunt, Jackie Olson plated her with a single.
I-G scored solo tallies in the first and fourth prior to the game winner.
The run in the fourth came on a home run by Kylie Moneypenny.
Jenna Faulkner struck out three and walked one for Darlington while giving up nine hits.
"It was a very well played game. There were lots of balls put into play," said I-G coach Deanna Fulton.
The Panthers plated 10 runs in a wild first inning in game two and added three in the third and six in the fourth of the five inning contest.
Darlington scored once in the first and four times in the fourth.
Stanton went two frames striking out one and walking two. Olson finished up striking out three and walking four.
Ashley Liddicoat was 3x3 while Rhaeann Engelke was 2x4 with a triple and four RBI.
Darlington's Tara Reichling struck out one and waked 12 in suffering the loss.
"It wasn't a pretty game," Fulton said following the win.
The Panthers host Mineral Point Thursday.
