Strange ending for Knights
Monroe scored the winning run in the bottom of the ninth without a hit.
The inning started with an error. A sac bunt put the winning run 180 feet from the plate. Two hit batters moved him 90 feet away.  Then, a walk sent him in for a 5-4 win in Western Section play.
The Knights opened the scoring with a run in the top of the first. Gary James walked, advanced on a bunt by Jay Lindner and took third on a wild pitch. He scored on a single by Tanner Solberg.
Monroe took the lead with two runs in the second.
The Knights went up 4-2 with three in the seventh. Jasper Meeker and Kristian Haag had singles before there were a pair of errors and an rbi single by Mark Ludwig.
The Knights loaded the bases in the top of the ninth with one out but a strikeout and a pop fly to first ended the frame.
Solberg was 2x3 for the Knights. Tony DeMuth, Ludwig and Haag had the rest of the hits.
Brad Simmons went seven innings before giving way to Lindner who took the loss.
The Knights host Richland Center tonight in a Night League game and travel to Blanchardville Saturday for a Western Section game with a 5 p.m. start.
