The 28th Annual Iowa County Farmers Appreciation Day came off without a hitch. We had a few sprinkles during the events at Harris Park, but we didn't get enough rain to stop one grain of dust from blowing. The parade was great and there were a lot of people sitting alongside the roadways taking it all in. Next year, the Chamber of Commerce will be heading things with the FAD committee becoming a part of the committees of the chamber.

The Dodgeville Knights Home Talent baseball team also had its final regular season home game on Sunday. They have had an interesting season. It could be compared to the one the Milwaukee Brewers have been having - hitting, but not at the right time when runners are in scoring position - making plays, but the ones they don't make come at inopportune times.

Since I showed off my great-nephew Grant Roh playing baseball last week, this week I'll show you another great-nephew in Sean Reilly (son of Ryan and Lauri) as he was playing ball for the "Little Cards" team when they took on the "Little Cubs" team a week or so ago (see above photo). Sean played right field and even tried his hand a catching. I have a feeling that catching is something he's not thrilled to do!

Hey! The Dodgeville EMS is in need of people to step up and help out the area by being a member. If you don't think the EMS is needed, Sunday at Centennial Park there were two calls in less than two hours. It does take up some time being a member, but it is very gratifying when you realize just how much good you do!

This Saturday there is an Iowa County Tractor Ride beginning at 10 a.m. going from Linden and Mineral Point to Belmont and back. That should be pretty interesting for viewers.

Don't forget if you love ice cream the Iowa County Historical Society location (cross from Hardee's) is the place to be tonight (Thursday). It's a needed fundraiser and you get ice cream - what could be better?

Also, if you like to eat steak, next Wednesday (31st) the Cob Lions Club's annual steak supper takes place in Cobb.

Another new thing to our area is a "Dinner and a Show" this Saturday night (27th) at Deer Valley Lodge, just this side of Barneveld. The show features Spencer James, but I don't think it's the Spencer James I knew years ago!
