Barneveld girls find way to win

It was "Pink Night" at Barneveld Saturday night and their "Miracle Miinute" collection raised over $450 for cancer research.
Oh, and there was a basketball game going on between Six Rivers East leading Barneveld and the challenger - Argyle. And it was a challenge.
The Lady Eagles led only 7-6 after the first quarter and were ahead just 11-10 at the half, thanks to a steal and layup by sophomre Rachel Slaney just before the halftime buzzer sounded.
Barneveld came out in the second half with a little more intense pressure and trapping defense. They took a 15-6 margin in the third frame for a 26-16 lead and that was more than the Orioles could come back from - final score Barneveld 41 Argyle 30.
"We hadn't played in 10-12 days," said Barneveld coach Jim Myers. "We missed some shots that wouldv'e gotten them out of their slow down game. We got some steals early, but didn't finish like we have in the past."
"In the second half," he went on saying, "we got some steals and finished. Credit Argyle with having a good game plan and sticking to it, especially when we weren't making shots."
On the night Slaney was the offense for the Eagles as she scored 24 of her team's 40 poins. She also came up with 10 rebounds and had six steals.
Hannah Whitish, who didn't score a point, came up with 8 steals.
"If you would tell me we'd have a game where boh Hannah and Madi (Laube) didn't score and we won, I'd think you were joshing," Myers said. "Rachel came up big tonight though."
Argyle sophomore Kim Pink was her team's only player to reach double figures as she hit 10 on the night.
