It was quite a wrestling weekend around the state with the regionals going on. That means a team champion was decided with the winner at each regional going on to Team Sectional Tuesday night. Dodgeville's wrestling team won their own Division 2 regional - Congratulations to the Dodgers. I don't think they have ever competed in a Team Sectional before, but never is over for them now!

Mineral Point, Iowa-Grant/Highland and Pecatonica-Argyle were hooked up together in the "very tough" Lancaster D3 regional. Lancaster, as many expected, emerged the team winner. Mineral Point finished second and Iowa-Grant/Highland third. It's too bad all those teams were in the same regional, Mineral Point and Iowa-Grant/Highland probably could've won many of the other regionals around the state!

Mineral Point and Iowa-Grant/Highland each have eight wrestlers advancing to the Mineral Point Sectional this coming Saturday. Dodgeville and River Valley have six and five respectively advancing to the Richland Center Sectional that same day. Good luck to all the wrestlers trying to make it to state!

Wow, the weather has certainly been different again. I think this winter has been more like the winters I remember as a kid. It seems to have been snowing every other day if not every day the past week. With rain, turning to snow on Sunday and into Monday, that's more moisture to add going into our ground. It's also supposed to snow again Thursday (today)!

We received a Dodgeville Chronicle renewal from one of brother Pat's 1964 classmates - Richard (Dick) Ellenboldt (actually from his wife, Sandy). She said: Enclosed please find our label and check for our renewal. Richard says to give a shout out to Pat and Mike and looking forward to seeing you at our 50th this fall." Wow, that means that Pat is out of high school 50 years! That also means I'm just one year behind him! Oh, and I usually go to the class of 1963 reunion as an "honorary" member!

Just to show you that baseball season is upon us, here's a couple of dates to prove that point. FEBRUARY 11 - Voluntary Spring Training report date for pitchers, catchers and injured players; FEBRUARY 15 - Voluntary date on which all non-World Baseball Classic position players may be invited to Spring Training.
I think the Dodgeville (Knights) Home Talent team is following these dates, too!
