River Valley coach Julie Kuhse was happy with the sweep as both the varsity and junior varsity picked up wins over the Dodgers.
"It was the last match of the season for the junior varsity," Kuhse said. "They were competitive all season and finished with a 9-11 record. Carly Clavadascher and Megan Eberle both had two personal bests."
She said the junior varsity girls have been exceeding what is expected of jv performers.
"Our JV vaulters are twisting and performing high level vaults, something you don't see much of at that level," Kuhse said. "Vault and floor are our strongest events, as it is for varsity. The girls have some great skills on beam but falls have been a disadvantage. It is a good feeling knowing if needed these JV girls could step into varsity competition with no problem."
The varsity won convincingly in their portion of the meet.
"The girls were kind of flat going into the meet but picked up energy and maintained as the night went on," Kuhse said. "Some of the scores we received were out of the norm for what we usually see--some higher and some lower--but different judges look at different things. We will strive to fix the things we can."
Nikkie Rasmussen had two personal bests and Claire Eno hit her high on the bars.
"Mariah Noble had an outstanding meet, hitting three personal bests," Kuhse said. "She is more sure of herself and her performances are more consistent. That will not only benefit her, but the team as well as we head into tournaments."
"The biggest advantage for us will be having the girls in a positive frame of mind the next few weeks," Kuhse said.
The Blackhawks will take part in the Platteville Invite Saturday which starts at 11:15 abd then will travel to Prairie du Chien February 15 for the SWC conference meet which starts at 6:30 p.m.
