Speaking of the Trivia Game at the chamber banquet, the narrator came up with one category that I couldn't believe - Minnesota! Now, when I was in school we had quite an unit on Wisconsin, by a great teacher - Mary Ellen (Fox) Cherry but we never had much to do with Minnesota. Probably the only thing that would've been worse would have been a category on IOWA (unless it was about their drivers!).

By the way, the Potterton Rule team won the Trivia Contest mainly since Andrea (Potterton) was originally from Minnesota - so they aced that category! I was on the ERA team that finished second after a tie breaker question arose since the two teams actually tied. I wasn't much help to the team as the categories were too much about television and movies. Who's got time for that?

A local seamstress - Julie Jewell - saved the day for me. She has done a couple of jobs for me, but this one was really different. I had received a pair of pants for a present a few years ago and finally got around to wearing them. The first thing was I was amazed they still fit! But, one of the back pockets was sewn shut. I heard that some really quality pants come that way for some reason. Anyway I use all my pockets to hold "important" things like change, checkbook, keys, handkerchief so I needed that pocket. She even stopped at the office to cut the pocket, but of course I forgot to bring them that day. I know she frequents the Corner Drug Store soda fountain, so I told her I would leave them there for her. She called me a couple of days later and said the manufacturer screwed up and didn't even leave an opening for the pocket (the pants must've not have been of great quality like we thought) so did I want her to cut the pocket and stitch it to look like it should? I said yes as I wanted to wear the pants and I'm a "pocket person"! The next day the pants arrived at the office as good as (no better than) new! Thanks Julie!!!

Valentine's Day is a week from today - Thursday, February 14th. I am at a loss for words about that holiday. I think the last time I sent anything out for Valentine's Day was some 25 years ago when one of the three women in my lifetime that I asked to marry me left for the East Coast. I have that effect on women - they love to get as far away from me as possible!

Next Wednesday (13th) starts the Lenten season. That means I will be giving up sweets - desserts, candy, ice cream (which I love) and everything I eat that is good - for six weeks. The good thing is that I usually lose some 5 lbs. or so. The bad thing is my humor since I don't get to enjoy what I like to eat! Oh well, it's only a little chunk out of my life!
