Winter came in with a roar as a good storm hit the area Saturday night into Sunday, dropping some more snow on the ground and causing bad road conditions yet again!

Last Wednesday, following our usual mailing out of the Dodgeville Chronicle, we had a little "Christmas" party for the staff that handles the mail day. That includes one of my buddies, Bob Kratochwill, who pretty much donates his time to help out whenever needed. I drew Bob's name in our "gift drawing" and got him a practical item I found right here in town - a holder for his cell phone that attaches to his vehicle's dashboard so he doesn't have to use his hands and/or pull over when his phone rings and he's driving. I didn't know I had it in me to buy a "practical"gift!

I had such a great time taking photos with Santa again this year that I had to share one with you. To show you that Santa watches every move you make, here's Lexie Yager, daughter of Janalyn and Paul Yager of Mineral Point, giving a "punch" lip kiss to brother Keigan. Lexie was pretty shy around Santa, so she figured she had better make it up to him somehow and be nice to her brother so she'd get all the gifts she asked for from Santa!

Friday night - the only game in town - was the Iowa-Grant/Highland wrestlers hosting neighboring Fennimore. The weather conditions cancelled a lot of the events, a few that were rescheduled from the night before. Anyway, I made the trek to the school between Cobb, Livingston and Montfort. On my way back, there was some light rain coming down and my windshield wipers were going. In Cobb, I met a vehicle that only had one headlight. I noticed that it was a headlight short, but when it got close to me I wasn't sure which light was out. There was a light on somebody's porch that (at the time I met the car) shined right where the passenger side light was supposed to be. I almost ran into the driver's side of the vehicle - anyway I flinched! One headlight isn't really safe in the winter and not at anytime!

I want to wish everyone a very Merry Christmas and hope that you received the present you really wanted and needed! Also, don't forget the true meaning of Christmas - the birth of Christ!
