This past Sunday was my final day of "Photos with Santa" at the Dodgeville Senior Center. The two hours went extremely fast. Santa and I both arrived at 12:45 and it was quarter to three before we knew it. There were a lot of pretty great youngsters there and Santa got his ears filled with gifts to bring them. There were a couple who forgot what they wanted after they got on Santa's lap. I think they were shell shocked at that point. The Dodgeville seniors were great. They provided punch and cookies, coffee for me and some water for Santa. They also talked with a lot of the youngsters. Some of them needed a little coaxing and reassuring about the jolly old fellow in the red suit with the long white hair and beard! Sometimes you just sit on a chair and watch the action before going to see Santa (see above).

Friday night I was heading between Highland and Iowa-Grant for basketball games and I had a deer run across the roadway in front of me. I always heard that where there is one, there is at least one more. Sure enough, another doe followed the first just a second or two later. It's a good thing I was stopped or it could've been my seventh incident with a deer and one of my vehicles!

How about the Green Bay Packers game Sunday? They trailed 26-3 and somehow pulled it out by one point - 37-36. They beat a Wisconsin boy (Brookfield) in Tony Romo. The Packers are just 1/2 game back of the diision lead - behind those Bears. A win next week against Pittsburgh could set up a huge showdown the final week of the season in Chicago.

The UW Badgers volleyball team finds itself in unfamiliar territory. They are in the NCAA Final Four. They have had quite a season with a couple of freshmen having a lot to do with their run!

Speaking of UW - the men's basketball team is unbeaten at 12-0 and ranked #4 in the country. They were originally picked ot be about fourth in the Big 10, so that must mean that there are three Big 10 teams ranked in front of them, right???

We're less than a week before Christmas. I guess that means I should start thinking (at least) about shopping! No, it way too early for that!

Son Michael is doing fine in his new job in Muscaine, Iowa. So is his (cop) wife Jolisa. They are settling in pretty well and are renting out their house in Waterloo. With both of them being "low man on the totem pole" it's going to be tough for us to get together during the holidays. Her folks, grandmother and brother and Michael's mother and grandmother are all in Mason City, Iowa, so they come first anyway!
