"We wrestled really well at times and then gave up a few matches I felt we could've won," said Pointer coach Scott Schmitz.
"Finishing fourth was a little higher than I expected, so that was a real bright spot," he added. "Nate (Cody) finishing fifth was 4-1 - his only loss was to the eventual champ."
"I think we will get better and hopefully will be right there come February," the coach concluded.
Last week, the Pointers opened SWAL dual action with a 51-30 win over Cuba City/Southwestern.
They received forfeits at 106, 113, 120 and 160.
Results were: 126-Reid Suddeth (MP) pinned Alex Busch; 132-JJ Donar (CC/SW) pinned Frank Baker; 140-Josh Donar (CC/SW) pinned Marcus Shannon; 145-Brandon Forseth (MP) pinned Brandon Taft; 152-Ross Siegenthaler pinned Austin Hill; 170-Lucas Kastner (CC/SW) pinned Bryce Fitzsimons; 182-Kyle Juedes (MP) pinned Scott Fink; 195-Brett Wilson (CC/SW) beat Nate Cody; 220-Brenyn Schmit pinned Aaron McCarthy; 285-CC/SW received a forfeit.
"I felt we didn't wrestled as well as I would've liked us to," Schmitz said. "But there were so many forfeits that maybe the kids let up a little. It was a good learning experience for us and we can take something from it for the next match."
The Pointers don't have a dual match this week, but go to the Dells Tournament Saturday.
