Dodger girls open running past Riverdale
The Dodgers pressed the entire first half and into the third frame.
The led modestly at 15-8 when the first quarter closed and stretched the lead to 35-19 by halftime, leading 33-12 at one point.
They totally put Riverdale away in the third frame with a 17-1 advantage and closed things out with a 10-9 edge.
All 12 girls played a good amount of minutes with 10 of them reaching the scoring column.
Samantha Crowley led all scorers with 13 points with fellow juniors Taylor Stanek and Megan Zoet both reaching double digits with 10. All of Zoet's points came in the first half.
Riverdale was paced by Kaylee Hanke's six markers, all coming from the charity stripe.
"We're trying to play uptempo and press. We know we're going to foul, but we have enough athletes to hopefully stay out of foul trouble," said Dodger coach Josh Busch.
His girls finished the night committing 24 fouls.
"Tonight we had trouble moving our feet and keeping our hands off people, but I was happy for the way we defended and worked for our first game", the coach added.
"Everybody got to play good minutes and everybody contributed - maybe not in scoring, but in good passes and defense,
"This season we sould have more balanced scoring than last year.
"We didn't rebound as well as we wanted to. That's someting we will be working on," he concluded.
The Dodgers have nine days off before they host Prairie du Chien in a SWC contest December 12.
