It's pretty much anybody's guess when this airplane was in a field probably on Bennett Road just east of Dodgeville. Shown with the plane is Willard Bennett along with Reuben and Lester Peterson. Our home farm was probably just south of that field.

The "4 Amigos" (Bob Kratochwill, Terry Carroll, Dewey Christoph and myself) had an eventful Friday. It was one of the few Fridays (other then for covering a local sporting event) that I have taken off from work in years! After the chamber breakfast at the Cook's Room we left for Green Bay to eventually attend a Packers game. It was an exhibition game with the Seattle Seahawks, so besides seeing Aaron Rodgers and the Packers it doubled as a chance to see former University of Wisconsin quarterback Russell Wilson lead the opponents. An "old friend" Kramer (Butch) Rock acquired the tickets that ended up being on the 50 yard line in the second deck - great seats! He met us at the downtown Neville Museum and gave us a tour of it - he's chairman of the board of that attraction. After eating lunch across the street at an old Chicago-Northwest Railroad depot (very good food), he guided us on a downtown tour of some Packers related historical sites. There also happened to be an Art show setting up downtown at the same time. Then we headed to our parking spot near Lambeau Field and took about an hour and a half tour of the Green Bay Packers Hall of Fame - very good and interesting - could've spent three hours there. Oh, Butch is on the board of directors of that site too. Then it was off to our seats. I had a $4 bottle of water as I was very thirsty! The game was so, so with the Packers eventually losing 17-10, but it was a preseason game. It was just the fact that now I can say I'd been to Lambeau Field for a game. There were nearly 75,000 people in the stadium for that game and that was a record crowd since they have added 7000 seats this year. We drove back that night after the game - traffic was heavy so after driving for an hour or so and only getting to Appleton, we stopped for breakfast! I got to bed around 3:45 a.m. and was back up by 7:00 - not much sleep! Butch was a great host to us and really helped make our day. I'm sure I'll see him at the DASFI golf outing the third Sunday of September at Dodge Point!

Saturday a good share of the family went to Big Bend (near Milwaukee) for a birthday party for nephew Darren and Michele's boys Gavin and Liam. I had trouble staying awake, but made it until the trip back (with Pat) heading home from Madison. Beautiful weather for an outside party!

Thursday night, cousin Jeanette and husband Jack met Pat and I along with nephew Ryan, Lauri and kids Sean, McKenna and Addison and niece Shelly with kids Danielle and Grant at Sam & Maddies for dinner. Webb was the chef and he came out to check on us several times. It was pretty darn good - even though I told him if I had known he was cooking I'd have ordered a salad! Jeanette's dad, Johnny (Merlin) was once a hired man on the Aldro Pengilly farm that is where the Don Inn Restaurant (now Sam & Maddies) was erected, so she really wanted to eat there. They left to go back to Atlanta Saturday morning and arrived Sunday early afternoon. She couldn't wait to see her grandbabies!
