Local team qualifies for Regionals


Next stop...Galesburg, IL.
The Western Dane Black Knights earned that honor at the 11U Cal Ripken state tournament this weekend when they took second place. The Black Knights advance along with state champion Janesville, the only team in the tourney to get past them.
The first game was a 7-4 win over Cross Plains then an 11-1 loss to Janesville. The Black Knights earned another win over Cross Plains, 15-1 then a 15-2 win over Middleton. In their final game, champion Janesville won 16-1.
The Black Knights will play in the pool play at the Ohio Valley Regional in Galesburg, Illinois.
The team consists of four boys from Arena - Jimmy Jennings, Trae Runyan, Rhead Jacobus and Brock Mahoney.
Four boys from Barneveld - Reece Peterson, Mathew Fahey, Seth and Spencer Sullivan. Five boys from Dodgeville - Will Borne-Mumm, Wayne Larson Jr, Brandon Molldrem, Colton Rikli and R.J. Veinberg.
The team is coached by Mitch Mumm, Brent Molldrem and Wayne Larson.
The team is seeking donations to help offset travel and food costs. If you would like to donate to help the trip there is account set up at Farmers Savings Bank under Dane West Black Knights.
