I haven't talked much about my late buddy (Crubaugh) lately, but here's a good thing. Somewhere along the line he and Flo produced a daughter (Sheri) who married Jerry Johnson or Ridgeway. They produced a miniature queen for the 2013 Dodgeville Junior Prom. Chloe Johnson can be seen above with her escort - Miniature King Skylar Whitlatch. I always knew Mike was good for something!

I'm sure pretty much everyone was watching the "Boston Marathon Bombing" and the capture of the final piece to the puzzle in who did it. The television networks did a bang up job keeping on top of it all and covering the capture of the second culprit, following the shootout when his brother was killed and he got away. I can't imagine the fear that was going through the people of Boston and Greater Boston area that whole time. Plus all the new fangled "gizmos" that are out there that people can report things on, capture photos or videos immediately and send them to the proper authorities are really something and help out a lot. Back (in the dark ages) when I was a kid, who would ever have imagined that a phone could do so much?

I heard of a report of a Wisconsin Heights area husband and wife who have Dodgeville connections being at the boston Marathon. The wife was running in it and finished just seconds before the first bomb went off. Her husband had been following her along the course and luckily was in the "cool down" area after the finish line waiting for her at that same time. Whoever said that a couple of seconds really don't matter?!!!

This past weekend was when the Dodgeville City-Wide Garage Sales took place. It wasn't the best weather weekend for that to happen, but even in the cold people came out to shop for "things they just couldn't live without!"

With the temperatures beginning to warm up some (finally) there are some spring events planned in the very near future. The Iowa County Humane Society is holding a one day garage sale this Friday. There also is a 35-55-85-100 mile Quadrupedal ICHS bicycle ride on Sunday. May 5th. There is a spring plant sale on Saturday, May 4th at Ss. Anthony & Philip Communiy Center in Highland. The Otter Creek Lutheran Church is holding its annual Pancake Breakfast on Sunday, May 5th.

When the spring plant sales begin, you know that nice weather is going to follow!

This seems to be the pattern the "spring". Before Monday of this week the Dodgeville High School Baseball Team had been outside once - that was to play a game against River Valley last Tuesday. Then, on Sunday, the Dodgeville Knights Home Talent Baseball Team played its first game of the season - at Stoughton - and this was not only their first time outside, but it pretty much doubled as their first practice!

How about those Milwaukee Brewers. About a week ago I was about ready to give up on them in the early part of the season, but they have turned things around for the moment anyway. They swept the "World Champion" San Francisco Giants and did the same to the neighboring Chicago Cubs and as of Monday they've won seven in a row! I'm sure glad they get the opportunity to play inside at a domed stadium. I can't imagine what teams are going through when they have to play baseball in the midwest with the weather we've been having. In fact, a game in Minneapolis was snowed out the other day and another in Chicago (White Sox) was postponed due to cold and wind!
