Dodger girls top Pecatonica

Sam Arnold gave up just two hits to visiting Pecatonica Monday in a 9-1 win for the Dodgeville softball team in a contest played on the Wilson Park east diamond.
She struck out 12 and walked three enroute to the win. The lone run for the Vikings came in the fifth frame.
With one out, Clara Moon walked and trotted home on a two bagger by Molly Hendrickson.
The Dodgers scored twice in the first, third and fourth and also pushed over solo tallies in the second and sixth - scoring in every frame.
Brooke Lee was 2x4 and scored three runs while Hailey Jones scored twice and was 1x2. Samantha Crowley was 2x2. Katie Johnson was 1x1 and scored while Kristal McVay was 1x2 with a double and a run scored. Carley Haack and Becca Veinberg also scored runs. Arnold helped her own caise with a double and was 1x4.
"This was a solid team victory. We played error free ball and six different players had hits and six collected walks." said Dodger coach Gene Van Dyck. "It was realy nice as Pec had beaten us last year."
"Sam threw another really good game. Courtney Cushman continued really solid behind the plate and Becca Veinberg had some really nice plays at first."
"The best part of our offense was our base running. We were fairly aggressive as well as smart and that led to several runs."
