Shelbi Kosharek, a senior at Highland his year, came up with the idea of holding a "Hunger Banquet" as her senior project. People drew numbers to sit in a certain spot (upper income, middle income, lower income) at the banquet and were served food accordinally. Here is a picture of those in the lower income waiting to take their place in line for the "soup". Any proceeds from the event went to the food pantry.

Sometimes my mind and fingers on the computer don't match. Such was the case last week when I wrote about the "Wild Weasel" opening in the downtown area of Dodgeville. It opened on Wednesday of this week on the corner of Diagonal and North Iowa Streets (somehow I said North Division instead of Iowa)! The Wild Weasal is an all ORGANIC food store.

The Green Bay Packers have now made quarterback Aaron Rodgers the highest paid athlete in professional football with a $25 Million a year contract. Boy that's a lot of money!

Speaking of money to professional athletes - Alex Rodriguez (A-Rod), who plays Major League Baseball with the New York Yankees will make more money this season ($29 Million) than the entire Huston Astros team. Oh, and Houston, who has played in the National League since it became a team, will be competing in the American League starting this season. They will be in the AL West, so won't play that many games against the Yankees as some other AL teams.

We received a note from a longtime subscriber with their renewal. Eugene and Melva (Tredinnick) Lindauer wrote: "We have been enjoying your Chronicle for many, many years. We are from Linden!!! Have been in Green Bay since 1966 - we are now in our 80s."

It was great to see Dorothy Lepeska in church Sunday. Not only was it Easter, but it was her 93rd birthday that day too! Dorothy has been a longtime friend as has her family. They're from the Iowa-Grant (Montfort/Stitzer) area.

Oh, and "Happy Birthday" to brother Patrick today (4-4)!

The snow is gradually diminishing and there should be quite a bit gone by the end of this week, but it will probably still be another week before the ball fields are ready for play. That will mean a lot of doubleheaders on the schedules.

We had a partial family Easter at Ludden Lake in Mineral Point on Sunday. I say partial since there were only 10 of us there - there are 13 more in Pat's family - with three other familys heading elsewhere. Also, son Michael was off to his mother's home in Mason City, Iowa adn had to be back at work that night in Waterloo, Iowa. His wife, Jolisa, was on "cop" duty in Muscatine, Iowa on Easter. We had a great time with a few Easter goodies handed out by both me and the staff at Ludden Lake.

I was crossing the street on East Merrimac the other day and was in the middle of the street (no crosswalk nearby) and a driver came heading wildly right at me. He stopped while I was crossing and I commented "I looked and saw you weren't from IOWA." He commented, "That's where I'm originally from!"
