Dodgers hold on for key win
The Dodgers won the match 3-2 after surviving a pair of Blackhawk rallies.
Scores were 25-18, 8-25, 25-12, 20-25 and 15-12.
The Dodgers had some clutch performances from Taylor Stanek and Brooke Lee. They combined for 22 kills with Stanek nailing 14 and Lee eight. They both had six blocks while Stanek came through with 10 digs and Lee eight aces.
Other stat leaders were Megan McCarthey with 35 assists and Hailey Jones six digs.
It was Stanek who earned the title "go to girl" for the match.
"Taylor had an outstanding game all around," coach Tori Dahl said. "She was the one we went to all night."
She was also pleased with the improved serving turned in by Lee.
"She has been working hard on her jump serve and she did an amazing job, especially in the third game," Dahl said.
Lee had 12 serves in a row during the third game win.
"It was a match where everyone contributed," Dahl said. "The girls off the bench filled in at key spots and helped out when we needed it."
The Dodgers host River Valley tonight in a "Pink Night" match. There will be a pink t-shirt sale and the game ball will be auctioned off. Proceeds go to fight breast cancer.
