Dodgers define themselves with win over RC

Winning the football game over Richland Center to go 4-0 at the halfway mark is what the Dodgeville football team wants to be remembered for.
Not for the fact that three players sat out the game for disciplinary reasons.
"That does not represent what we are about," said first year coach Ryan Bohnsack. "They made a mistake and they paid for it."
They also took three weapons away from the Dodgers in their quest for a strong season.
"I felt the team stepped up in their absence and found a way to get the job done," Bohnsack said.
The 21-20 win by the Dodgers over the Hornets was a combination of kids making plays.
"Our offensive line made plays," Bohnsack said. "Our kids off the bench made plays. When one kid goes down, another steps up. It was a whole team that contributed to this win."
Logan Yeager scored a trio of touchdowns and Jacob Hanson followed each one with an extra point, his last kick providing the winning margin.
The Dodgers stopped a drive by the Hornets near the end of the game when Nate Hottmann jarred the ball loose from the ball carrier's hands and Jason Gullickson pounced on it.
The Dodgers had 225 yards rushing and 139 passing on a 10 for 22 night by quarterback Austin Larson. Four of the catches went for 57 yards for Travis Sigg.
Yeager ran the football 33 times for 254 yards. He scored on runs of four, five and 22 yards.
That helped negate the 11 penalties for 96 yards the Dodgers were assessed.
"Penalties hurt us," Bohnsack said.
But Hanson's foot helped make up for that.
"He just goes out and does his job," Bohnsack said. "All the kids do. The win is a credit to the kids. This is a good group."
With one conference win under their belts and two more needed for a play-off spot, the Dodgers head to Platteville Friday.
"They are a good team," Bohnsack. "It should be a good game."
