Liddicoat's net play paces Panthers

Ashley Liddicoat took control of the net and helped Iowa-Grant's volleyball team advance in WIAA Regional play Tuesday as the Panthers got past New Glarus 3-1.
Liddicoat recorded 13 kills as the Panthers won 25-20, 26-24, 20-25 and 25-21. She also had a pair of block kills for the Panthers.
"I was pleased to see Ashley help us so much at the net," coach Marla Simon said. "She kept us in the game. New Glarus is a very scrappy team and we had to step up our aggressiveness to win."
Jackie Olson added five kills and Kaci Myers four. Myers also had three blocks.
Three Panthers served a pair of aces, namely Myers, Emily Warne and Paige Springer. Warne also had 24 assists.
Rheann Engelke led the Panthers on getting after the ball with 11 digs. Taylor Jackson and Myers both added seven.
"Rheann, Jackie, Kaci and Taylor all played strong in the back row," said Simon. "They made some big plays."
The Panthers head to Lancaster tonight to face the number one seeded Flying Arrows.
"They are a very good team when it comes to hitting and blocking," Simon said. "We will have our work cut out for us."
