Sisters now stand at 1-1
The Cardinals looked as if they were going to win in three as they took games ne and two 25-20 and 26-24.
Belmont came back to win 25-19 and 27-25 to set the stage for the final set. That was won by the Lady Braves 15-11.
"Tonight we basically beat ourselves," Wineski said. "We did play a lot better tonight than we did against Benton Thursday, but we had too many mental errors. We didn't attack the ball and weren't aggressive when we needed to be."
Shanaya Hebgen led the team with 29 assists. She moved the ball around with Janel Laufenberg (12 kills), Mackenzie Drury (8 kills) and Brenna Bomkamp (6 kills) her main benefactors.
Caitlin Wienkes came up with 17 digs with Laufenberg adding 12.
Bomkamp also blocked three Belmont shots.
The Cardinals are 3-7 in Six Rivers play and travel to Cassville Tuesday.
The Highland JV won 3-0 against the Belmont reserves.
In action Thursday night, the Cardinals saw the same fate go Benton's way as did Belmont's Tuesday.
Highland won games one and two 25-16, 25-22, but dropped the next three 25-19, 25-21, 15-13.
