Eagles line work puts Cards away
But, Barneveld made up for it in the one quarter of the game they played their best and took down the Cardinals 42-32 in the non-conference match-up.
"We outplayed them for three quarters," Cardinals coach Chad Paquette said. "We were shorthanded but we played pretty well."
The Cardinals are without Andrew Wolfe, a physical presence inside, for two more games.
"But, we got a 110% effort from the kids," Paquette said. "I was impressed with our play for the most part, especially on defense."
But the 25 turnovers and several missed shots that took place during a six minute stretch of the second half eventually doomed the Cardinals.
"We had to foul them at the end of the game and they put it away at the line," said Paquette.
Jeremy Whitish and Dustin Hodgson both slipped in a pair of key tosses to seal the win for the Golden Eagles.
Jeremy Whitish led Barneveld with 13 points. Highland's Nic Pierick took scoring honors with 16.
