Our two "coverage area" football teams didn't fare very well Saturday in WIAA Level 4 playoff action. Mount Horeb-Barneveld, in Division 3, and Iowa-Grant, in Division 6, both lost. But both teams had great seasons and advanced farther than any team from their school(s) had in a long time - Mount horeb/Barneveld's first time to get to the semifinals. Also, think of how many schools started playoffs (224) and it only gets down to 14 teams that make it to state and then 7 that go home REALLY happy!

This past election has been billed as "The Costliest, Nastiest Election Ever". I don't remember seeing or hearing a "positive" election advertisement. And, the President and U.S. Congress campaigns alone cost close to $6 billion. Gee, that $6 billion could have at least put a little dent into our national debt!

We started work on our "Holiday Gift/Events Guide". It's really hard to believe that Christmas is only a little over a month away. I realize that some Christmas Open Houses have already happened, but Dodgeville's is Saturday, December 1st with tha annual "Miracle On Iowa Street" parade that evening at 6:00. Dodgeville businesses will have sales on merchandise and probably some treats for shoppers to sample during the day.

The other day I was eating a sandwich and one of my teeth fell out. Now if that's a sign that my teeth are getting weak, the only thing left for me to do is "quit eating"!

After a couple of weekend days that were pretty mild (50s-60s) we were supposed come back to near winter reality - at least the first part of this past week. Temperatures was supposed to hit the mid 30s on Monday and Tuesday with maybe some flurries, but be back to more normal - mid to upper 40s - the rest of the week. I any of you didn't get to see a photo of what was probably Dodgeville's first snowman of the season, you missed it. It was on our website: thedodgevillechronicle.com. There area lot of photos on that website that never get into the newspaper, mainly due to the timing of the occurrence or the number taken at say a sporting event or a musical production!

Speaking of events - the Iowa County Association for Home and Community Education (HCE) held its annual Holiday Festival last week. Above is a photo of a good share of the group that attended at the Iowa County Health & Human Services Center - a nice place to hold such events!
