Vikings stay on course with win over MG
Bowar gained 239 yards and scored three touchdowns but didn't figure into the scoring until Mount Horeb/Barneveld was ahead 21-0.
Then Bowar went on a tare and pushed in the next 21 points. He scored on runs of five, 24 and two yards.
Joel Cretney scored on the first Vikings possession, capping a drive with a four yard plunge. He also kicked the conversion as he did on all seven MHB scores.
Jack Doyle took a 30 yard pass from Kale Pustina on the next possession to make it 14-0.
A reverse that featured the speedy Isaiah Lesure made it 21-0.
The Silver Eagles finally scored but Bowar answered it with a five yard scamper and make it 28-7 at the half.
Monona Grove scored twice in the third quarter but MHB never stopped rolling. Bowar scored twice more, once in the third quarter and again in the fourth, before Chuck Sauter punched in the last Vikings score with a 13 yard run.
When Bowar wasn't running the football, or the other Vikings in Travis Rohrer's stable of backs, it was quarterback Kale Pustina nailing nine throws for 284 yards. Lesure grabbed five of them for 155 yards.
The Vikings will take on Catholic Memorial Saturday at 2 p.m. at Kettle Morraine for the right to play in the title game at Camp Randall the next week.
"We are not done yet," said Rohrer. "We didn't get the conference championship so we told the kids let's make a run for a state championship."
