Knights beat Wiota, Pine Bluff
They won a game with Wiota.
The Knights put up 13 runs on 10 hits and got strong rbi production from veterans Ryan Reilly and Eric Rohowetz.
Reilly knocked in five runs and went 3x5 at the plate. He sent in a run in the first with a bases loaded ground out and the Knights tacked on another run on a bases loaded walk to Jay Lindner.
Rohowetz and Reilly singled in runs in a two run second. Reilly then singled in a two more runs in the fourth to make it 6-0.
Wiota caught up with two runs in the fifth and four in the sixth.
The Knights took the lead for good in the bottom of the sixth. Reilly completed his assault on the Wiota pitching with his fifth rbi of the game when he singled in Ty Marklein who had walked. Lindner's single plated the second run of the inning.
Travis Elvert and Rohowetz knocked in runs in the seventh to make it 10-6.
Marklein doubled in two runs in a three run eighth and the other one scored on an error.
Reilly was 3x5, Rohowetz 2x3 and single hits were contributed by Tanner Solberg, Marklein, Elvert, Lindner and Brad Simmons.
Elvert, Simmons and Lindner all took a turn on the mound. Elvert fanned eight in five innings, Simmons one in 2 1/3 and Lindner one in 3 1/3. Lindner ended up getting the win.
Last Thursday Reilly coaxed a bases loaded walk in the bottom of the seventh to give the Knights a 4-3 win over Pine Bluff in an exhibition game.
Rohowetz started the final frame wit a single and Solberg followed with another base hit. The Bluffers intentionally walked Tony DeMuth before Reilly came to the plate and took four straight pitches for the win.
Simmons walked before Nate Bothfeld lined a shot over the left field fence for a two run bomb in the fourth.
The Knights scored again in the fifth on Marklein's double and Reilly's rbi single.
Pine Bluff tied it in the sixth to set the stage for the final inning showdown.
Marklein was 3x4 for the Knights. Bothfeld, Reilly, Solberg and Rohowetz all had one hit with Bothfeld's clearing the fences and Solberg's going for a double.
Mark Ludwig, Jake Pluemer and Greg Brennum all threw for the Knights with Brennum getting the win.
The Knights face Platteville in a home contest Sunday at 1 p.m.
