Upland Hills Health is losing a pretty dynamic person and one who has taken care of public relations, publicity and advertising - well for quite some time. Jodi Cecil is leaving for another job and will sorely be missed! Here she is, with her usual big smile, at the Nurses Run Walk held last Thursday. We'll miss you Jodi!

It was a beautiful Mother's Day Sunday with temperatures right where we may want them to be all summer long! i spent pretty much the entire day at Centennial Park for the Dodgeville Knights Home Talent baseball game - mostly in the concession stand. It's kind of odd that I cook the hot dogs, brats and hamburgers since I NEVER COOK ANYTHING AT HOME! But the home talent team needs the money when it cones to paying fees to the league, to other community tournaments, night league umpires and of course balls, bats and whatever it takes to keep a team going - so I don't mind! Oh, and the Dodgeville team opened Sunday League ply with a 13-6 win over Wiota!

There's a fellow in Major League Baseball by the name of Josh Hamilton who plays with the Texas Rangers. He has done something that only one other person in the history of MLB has done - he's hit 18 home runs in his first 32 games. I think I heard that some guy also did it back in the 1920s! Anyway, he's off to a torrid start to the season. If he keeps that pace up, he'd have over 90 home runs by the time he season is over!

For those of you who don't follow high school track and field, the Dodgeville-Mineral Point co-op team has some very talented individuals and relay teams. Last week there were several records broken by them at a Boscobel invitational meet. There will probably be more meet and school records broken before the season ends - and you'll probably see several of those competitors at the state meet in La Crosse the first part of June.  There will also probably be several on the podium, possibly in first place!

For anyone wondering if there is going to be a Balloon Fest this year at Bloomfield Healthcare, the answer is YES! It will be Thursday, June 7 with a lot of the same events and fun things to do that evening!

The uplands Garden Club's annual plant sale is this Saturday at Harris Park and the Iowa County Humane Society will also be having on on Saturday and next Saturday. Here's a great chance to get those beautiful annuals and perennials to spruce up your home, farm, office area........or wherever!

This week we have our annual graduation pages in our papers. Boy, that means the end is near for a lot of area seniors and some time off for the underclassmen - decisions, decisions, decisions are upon them!

It's good to see the Dodge Point Country Club back and running serving food! The course is in great shape too so stop out and play AROUND!
