Dodge-Point coach Joe Hanson talked about having kids take part in two different meets on the same day saying, " It was a great night for the Dodge/Point Boys and Girls Track and Field teams. Coach Denny McGraw, Coach Matt McGraw, Coach Palzkill, Coach Tolzman and Coach Lipska did an outstanding job having all our athletes ready to compete at a high level while I traveled east with Molly Hanson and Trevor Wunnicke to Hartland Arrowhead's "Myruhm" Invitation-al.
"The atmosphere at the Myruhm was electric and buzzed with the anticipation of record performances. Molly and Trevor did not disappoint the huge crowd, as both athletes performed stunningly. Molly won both the 1600 (5:02 31) and the 800 (2:15.46) and Trevor ran a fantastic 9:38.30 for 3200 meters and placed 5th.
" Although not unprecedented, we rarely take athletes to different meets but our program does and will provide these opportunities when in the best interest of the individual.
"I did miss being in Spring Green but I knew the kids were in great hands with our coaching staff. They sure proved me right as for the first time in recent history the Boys and Girls both took home the titles! The athletes really stepped up and came through, which is exactly what good programs do. I just feel blessed to be coaching at the same time that these athletes and these coaches have come along. We knew back when these Seniors were Freshman that we could have something special. Any honest or successful coach will tell you; timing is everything."
