Dells claims Regional title with win over Dodgers

When it was all over, Dodgeville boys basketball coach Ryan Bohnsack knew why Wisconsin Dells was awarded the number 1 seed in the Middleton Sectional.
"They are athletic and highly skilled," Bohnsack said. "They were the better team tonight."
Bohnsack said that after the Chiefs turned back the Dodgers 50-36 and ended their post season run in the WIAA Division 3 Regional finals. The Dodgers were able to hang around for the first half but a 9-0 run by the Chiefs to open the third frame was too much to overcome.
Shane Wimann led the Chiefs with 20 points in the Monday night game and MJ Delmore added 10.
Jake Bechen's 14 paced the Dodgers and Nick Crowley contributed 12.
A relentless press by the Chiefs served to wear down the Dodgers and proved to be the best weapon of the game.
"Their pressure got to us," Bohnsack said. "We scrapped but once they got a lead we couldn't catch them."
It was a one point game after the first two frames with the Dells leading 25-24.
"We had a couple runs in the first and second quarters but couldn't answer them in the second half," Bohnsack said. "We had some big plays in the first half."
Besides the press the Chiefs used a 1-2-2 and 3-2 zone in the half court.
"They made it tough on us every possession," Bohnsack said.
The Dodgers finished the season 18-6.
"Our seniors provided great leadership and guidance during the season. We are losing Jake Bechen, TJ Bramlett, Michael Digman, Evan Dowling, Kristian Haag and Austyn Whitlach. They have a lot to be proud of this year in making every game competitive," Bohnsack said. "Both us and Prairie du Chien got beat in the Regional Championship games and our only two SWC losses came to Prairie. We would like to thank our families for the sacrifices they make during the year," Bohnsack said. "We couldn't do it without their support."
