Gas price increases lead to upset customers

By by Steph Carley-

Gas prices are skyrocketing and it does not look like the price hike will end anytime soon. The national average price per gallon is $3.70 with predictions of $5 by summer. Factor in the state of the economy, and gas prices have a lot of people worried.
Some people are lucky enough to be able to carpool, bike, or walk more; but for me and many other people, we have no choice but to drive long distances  every day. I find myself watching my fuel gauge more than my speedometer, and dreading my next fill up.
I do not enjoy draining my checkbook just to fill my vehicle but I'm surely not going to take it out on the gas station workers. I used to work for a gas station and I dreaded gas price increases because I knew what would be coming out of customer's mouths. It never failed.  Every time gas prices increased customers would come in upset about the change and essentially blame the workers or gas station owners.
Gas stations raise prices according to other gas stations and what the head corporation tells them to do, not because they feel like it. I do not think people realize that gas stations make profits off the items they sell inside the store, but not much on gas.
When people would get upset over gas prices I always wondered if they realized that I had to buy gas too. So next time to you think of taking out a little aggression over gas prices, do not blame the gas station or workers.  They pay the same price you do.
