Hillmen shut out Dodgers in regionals
Platteville high school senior pitcher Logan Emendorfer may have had that in the back of his mind as he dueled the Dodgeville Dodgers Friday in the opening round of WIAA Division 2 baseball regionals.
He had some revenge on his mind. The Dodgers beat him with a last inning rally and knocked the Hillmen out of first place in the SWC late in the regular season.
He got his revenge and the Hillmen got to advance as Emendorfer shut out the Dodgers and helped the Hillmen to an 8-0 win. Emendorfer also had a pair of hits in the win.
The Hillmen scored twice in the third, once in the fourth, twice in the fifth and capped it off with a three run sixth.
The Dodgers managed only three hits off Emendorfer who worked six innings, struck out four and walked three. Hunter Johnston worked the final frame for the Hillmen and held the Dodgers both hitless and scoreless.
Jasper Meeker led off the game with a sharp single but he was forced at second on a fielders choice.
Brycen Pratt singled with one out in the second.
Brett Binsfeld had the final Dodgeville hit, a single in the fifth.
Meeker worked five innings for Dodgeville and took the loss. He struck out four and walked two.
Nick Crowley finished, striking out one and walking three in the sixth.
The game marked the final appearance for seniors Kristian Haag and Alex McVay. Haag had a sacrifice and a walk for no official trips to the plate while McVay pinch hit in the seventh and flew out to left.
