Cardinals advance with win over Wauzeka-Steuben
Riley walked three and spaced five hits in the win. He survived a first inning two run home run by Teagan Cornell and got some help from teammate Tyler Kleist who slammed a three run shot in the bottom of the first to help the Cardinals grab a 4-2 lead.
Kleist drove in four runs in the game.
Highland added a run in the bottom of the first, three in the third, two in the fifth and one in the sixth.
W-S got to Riley for single runs in the fourth and seventh.
Nathan Friar took the loss, fanning six and walking five in six innings. Eight of the 11 Cardinal runs were earned.
Bailey Bodenstein was 4x5 for the Cardinals. He scored four runs and drove in two.
Branden McCollough, Kleist and Andrew Wolfe each had two hits for Highland.
The win moved the Cardinals to 16-9 on the season. They were to host Cassville for the Regional title Wednesday.
