Knights lose key Western Section game to Wiota
They traveled to Wiota to take on the Indians on a field that has been unkind to them in the past.
Sunday was no different.
Wiota liked the home cooking and picked up a 7-3 win over the Knights in a game with play-off implications.
The Indians scored a run in the first, another in the second then tacked on three in the fourth. They put the game away with a two run sixth.
Justin Doyle and Jeff Solberg combined for the mound win with the decision going to Doyle.
Kyle Spurley took the loss. Mark Ludwig pitched two innings of relief.
Brandon Weier doubled with one out in the fifth and scored on an error. He singled in a run in the fifth, plating Jay Lindner who walked, while Cody Freisen singled and scored on an error to cut the Wiota lead to 5-3.
The two runs in the eighth iced it for the Indians.
Tanner Solberg was 2x5 while Freisen went 2x4 and Weier 2x3. Ryan Reilly and Jacob Forseth both had one hit.
The Knights have a bye this week in Sunday play. They travel to Black Earth Thursday for a Night League game.
