Cardinals sprint away from Iowa-Grant
Turns out there was no fuel shortage when it came time to take the court.
The Cardinals pulled away from the Panthers in the second quarter and cruised to a 55-31 win in the midseason non-conference game. Taylor Wienkes and Leigh Drury led the scoring with 20 and 13 points.
"Taylor was a force inside again tonight," Tarrell said. "We didn't start out the best but then we got the ball inside to Taylor and she helped us put it away. She had a heck of a game."
Josi Olson battled inside for the Panthers and put in 12 points.
"The girls were tired but bounced back after the loss the night before," Tarrell said. "It was a nice win."
Tarrell also credited Mallory Stanek with a strong performance off the bench for the Cardinals.
"She had six points, all in the fourth quarter to keep us going,"
The Cardinals head to Potosi Friday in a key win for Six Rivers West positioning.
"We are 1-2 in conference with losses to Belmont and River Ridge," Tarrell said. "Potosi is right there with them so this will be a big game for us. We need this one and it will be a tough game."
