A milestone

With this issue The Dodgeville Chronicle begins its 150th year of publishing one of Wisconsin's largest weekly newspapers.
A lot has changed since that first issue. People who provide the copy and do page layout do so by computers. Instead of carrying type cases to a press the pages are delivered to the printer electronically.
What hasn't changed is the efforts by the staff at the newspaper to get the news right and to provide good customer service. Historically, The Dodgeville Chronicle has been counted on to report fairly and accurately. And, for 150 years that is what has been done.
For those 150 years our business staff has worked hard to meet the needs our customers.
The typesetters and graphics people have done their jobs well, striving for accuracy and neatness.
It takes people to put out the paper. People who have hearts, brains and use their talents to tell you about the news, the sports, while featuring people, places and things. The paper also has an opinion page where writers give their views and the public airs their concerns.
Every week brings something new.
That is what makes our 150th year as special as the first.
We will spend the year bringing back some of the things that have shaped our area during the past 150 years. We will present them each week starting soon until the end of the year.
There will be other things planned for our readers throughout the year so watch for them.
And, because you are reading this, thank you for your support.
