Wrestlers who failed to place in the oturnament from Dodgeville, Mneral Point, Iowa-Grant and River Valley were:
Dodgeville: 145 lb. Damon Wilson, 152 lb. Brett Binsfeld (injured), 182 lb. Clay DiCiaula and 285 lb. Taran Mortimer; Iowa-Grant: 113 lb. Jordan Jenks; Mineral Point: none; River Valley: 182 lb. Jacob Heiser.
Iowa-Grant coach Ryan Allen talked about the tournament andd the upcoming regional, saying:
"We are very excited about winning the clash. With many of the wrestlers knowing each other, having wrestled earlier in the year, and rivalries that have been created throughout the years, you can kind of expect some good battles. I'm very happy that we came out of there healthy and I think we built some momentum for next weekend.
"Next Saturday we will be at probably the toughest regional in Div 3. but I believe that's true because we are there. I know there will be some very good wrestlers who do not make it out of there who maybe should have, but that happens at every regional. We are going to keep doing what we have been doing all year and grinding it out. It's exciting for us to get a crack at some of the toughest competition early on and we will be ready."
Mineral Point coach Scott Schmitz taked about the clash saying:
"I thought we wrestled well today. Everybody placed for us and Robby (Chubb) went up a weight to help our team score better without having a heavyweight."
He was speaking of heavyweight Brian Steffes, who has been out with an injury.
"Hopefully he'll be back and okay for regional.
"We will be working hard in practice this week to get ready for regional. It'll be tough as the top three teams of this tournament will be at Darlington Saturday and only one of us can go on as a team.
We'll challenge the guys to go out there and wrestle their best and hopefully change some things around from how they came out today."
