Balanced Cardinals survive OT with Cassville


Scoring balance helped the Highland boys basketball team turn back host Cassville in an overtime battle in Six Rivers West action Thursday.
The Cardinals outscored the Comets 11-5 in the extra period to claim the win. Both teams had 52 points on the board at the end of regulation.
The Cardinals ended up on the right side of a 63-57 score.
The Cardinal led 14-8 at the end of the first quarter and 30-23 at halftime. Cassville outscored the visitors 19-14 in the third quarter and 10-8 in the final frame to set up the extra period.
Bailey Bodenstein led Highland with 15 points while Nic Pierick and Levi Linscheid both picked up 14 and Tyler Kleist 10. Seven players found the scoring column for the Cardinals.
Cassville got a 19 point outburst by 5-11 sophomore Ty Kartman and another 10 from 5-10 sophomore Cole Adams.
Kartman had four three pointers for the Comets among the eight they put in for the game.
Highland hosts Potosi Friday.
