"It was a good starting point for us," said Dodger coach Tim Wunnicke. "It would have been nice to have a dual meet before Black Hawk to gauge where we were but that wasn't an option. All but 2 wrestlers scored team points for us and we had guys at every weight. We had 2 champions in Austin DeVoss (120) and Trevor Wunnicke (113). Brady Wetter (152) and Brett Binsfield (160) took 2nd. Zach Nelson (106)Tyler Wunnicke (132) Austin Olson (170) Sam Gollon (195) Payton Calver (220) all took 3rd. Jasper Meeker (145) took 4th and Jack Schickel (182) took 5th and Payton Grunow took 6th"
"We see a lot of teams that we don't normally see at this tourney and along with that a lot of different styles of wrestling. We were extremely happy with how we did but at the same time realize we still have a lot of work to do if we want to be a competitive dual meet team Its hard to keep in mind that every thou we have 5 seniors on the team, we also have 5 freshman and 3 sophomores. We a young team with drive and determination and with 25 kids in the practice room we should do nothing but improve," the coach went on saying.
"River Valley will be a true test for us this Thursday night. They have always been a perennial power with a lot of proven wrestlers, so I guess we will see how we match up," Wunnicke concluded.
