"This was an eight team tourney with two pools with the top 2 teams in each pool moving into championship bracket and the bottom two going into consolation bracket," Panther coach Marla Simon said.
"And, that is where we finished. I think our key match was the loss to Sturgeon Bay in pool play. We turn that into a win and we are in the top bracket. We go 3 sets with them, all close and just can't pull it off due to some missed serving, and not so good serve receive."
"On the positive side, we finish the day out with three straight wins and I felt that last match with Marinette was a very good to match to end the day as we had to come from behind and play in some tight sets again,  This time we pull it off."
"I was happy the play of our younger kid as Kylie Moneypenny (soph) showed some strength with her blocking at the net and being aggressive when needed on plays there. Kristin Bingham (frosh) did a good job filling in the back row and serving, provided some steady play once she got over some nerves. Emily Warne shows she can lead this team setting but just needs to have a little better passing and then more confidence in herself. Paige Springer also surprised with some strong, consistent serving throughout the day," Simon said.
"I was hoping for a little better finish, but being young and our first tourney of the year along with finishing with 3 straight wins makes it a good tourney for us," Simon said. It was a good way to see what it takes to play in an all-day tourney and to get ready for some of those longer conference matches we may play this season."
"We need to serve receive and pass in transition better," Simon said. "We also need to communicate much better, too."
