Eagles surprise at Just a Game

Barneveld's volleyball team caught some glances of admiration at the Horicon-Friendship tourney at Just a Game Fieldhouse in Wisconsin Dells last weekend.
One of the most noted looks came from their coach, Kevin Knudson.
All the Eagles did was fight their way to sixth place in a major tournament involving mostly Division 1 and 2 schools seeded no lower than fifth last year. There were 22 teams in the invite.
When Knudson first heard about the tournament he thought it had potential but might not translate into many wins.
"When I received the information in the mail and the teams in the tournament, I have to be honest, I was hoping we would win a game or two and just be competitive," said Knudson.
"But the girls exceeded my expectations. The tournament was loaded with mostly Division 1 and 2 schools and schools that were seeded no lower than fifth last year. I was very proud of the girls on how they did and finishing in sixth place, was a nice way to start out the season."
The tough competition should help[ the Eagles as they enter Six River as East play.
"The competition we faced, was a great learning experience for the team and I have to believe it should help us as we enter Conference play," Knudson said. "Even the Division 1 schools we lost to, have great programs and we battled them very well, in fact, I think little Barneveld surprised some of them. I felt our overall play was good, but we always have room to improve."
Barneveld beat Random Lake 25-18, 23-25, 15-10, Clintonville 25-18, 25,23 Pewaukee 25-19 25-17. Riverdale 25-20 and 25-7. They lost to Green Bay Preble 25-17, 25-18. to Shawano 25-18 25 19 and to Ripon 25-18, 25-22.
