I made it to the Wisconsin High School Regional Rodeo at Mineral Point on Sunday. It's always great to watch those young cowboys and cowgirls compete in events I could only dream of trying!

I really can't believe it. The Milwaukee Brewers baseball team finally beat the "lowly" Houston Astros Sunday after blowing the two games before against them. It took Kameron Loe, who usually is not a closer, to be the closer in that win. Like most of the games the Brewers have held on to for a win, it didn't come easy as Loe had runners on second and third with two outs before getting the final batter to ground out. The Brewers have had a league-leading 22 blown saves this year and Saturday they handed the Astros their first extra-inning win of the season. It hasn't been a great season for the local team, but like the Cubs' fans say "There's Always Next Year"!!

Congratulations and good luck to the Ridgeway Cardinals Home Talent baseball team. They beat Wiota Sunday to advance to the Western Section championship game at Verona this coming Sunday!

Cousin Jeanette has been in Wisconsin since last Tuesday. We had a great family breakfast at The Red Room on Wednesday and hopefully will get together there again Tuesday. She has been staying with cousin Jean (Reilly) Halverson in Richland Center and making trips around the area to catch up with mutual friends and doing some "recreation"! She and husband Jack get the Dodgeville Chronicle in Atlanta, but hey missed the July 5th issue. It came back to us as undeliverable, BUT they have lived at the same address for some 12 years and this is the first one that came back - something is fishy! I gave her that page that came back with their address on it along with a copy of the July 5th paper. I told her to go to the post office when she gets back there and show them the address and that I made her pay $.50 since that's what the post office charged us and another buck for the July 5th paper - see if she can get reimbursed (ha, ha, ha!)

Brother Patrick and I made the trek to Milton to "very good friend" Kathryn McGraw's 90th birthday party Saturday. It was also her son Tom's 49th birthday, but I told him who cares when you have a 90 year old in the crowd! It was a great day for Kathryn with a "ton" of relatives and friends there, in her honor, to help her celebrate. I think by the end of the day she was pretty talked out! Daughter Millie (Babcock) was the hostess for the birthday bash - great job!
