Along The Ad Routes

I went to the Dodgeville Knights/Ridgeway Cardinals Home Talent baseball game Sunday and got there before 1:00, but the game started a tad early since it was spitting a little rain. I missed getting a picture of the first batter, but got him later in that same inning since the Knights batted 11 in the first frame. I stuck around for 1 1/2 innings as I had to get to Linden for their "Frolic" parade. The rain had subsided in Linden and held off during the parade. I was on my way back to Ridgeway, but by the time I got to Dodgeville it was raining pretty hard, so I decided to sit the rest of the game out and stay dry. I was already a little wet just from going from my car to the office! But the rain is much needed!

I couldn't believe how fast Terry at Dodgeville True Value sold the remainder of his items out on Saturday morning (his last day). He, Bob Kratochwill, Dewey Christoph and I had breakfast at the Red Room (like usual) only at 7:00 a.m. since he felt he had to be at the store early. He received a call at 7:50 and was out of there like a shot. He had people lined up outside and with stuff at "buy a bag for $10 and fill it" he was cleaned out by 9:10! I've said it before and I'll say it again - That store will be missed. Terry will be at Ederer's Do It Best Hardware Store in the former Humane Society Building but if you're looking for True Value Hardware products - seven miles away in Mineral Point is Mitchell's Hardware!

It was a lot of fun going to Freeport, Illinois Saturday to watch two of my great-nephews play for the Little Cardinals baseball team and beat the Little Cubs 25-12. Grant Roh and Quentin Keene are the two relatives and grandsons of brother Pat. Also, Kole Schmitz, son of Barneveld baseball coach Lance Schmitz was part of the team. Besides the game, they had a home run hitting contest. Quentin won the younger division, displaying some very good power!

While I was taking photos of the Linden parade one of the Iowa County Sheriff's Department deputies, who was part of the parade, yelled out to me to go out to the sheriff's car and get a doughnut from my buddies' place as he had some in the car! So I did, but the sheriff didn't have any - now I thought that law enforcement people were supposed to tell the truth!
