Wolfe, Cardinals stop Benton/Shullsburg in five
Emily Wolfe only allowed a grounder to get through the infield in the fourth frame and a walk in twirling her near-gem. She struck out nine and walked one in earning the win.
The Cardinals scored twice in the firstr, six times in the second and once in each the third and fifth innings.
The big blow was a three RBI triple by Wolfe in the second. She was 1x2 with a run scored.
Alicia Ramsden was 2x3 scoring twice and driving in a pair of runs.
Becky Pink was 2x3 with an RBi and she scored twice.
Leigh Drury went 2x2 and scored twice.
Miranda Stanek and Kelly Ramsden both went 1x3. Stanek had an RBI and scored once.
Mackenzie Drury was 1x2 with a run scored.
Brant struck out three and walked three while giving up the 10 runs for Benton/Shullsburg.
"Everybody was hitting the ball and we played good defense (no errors)," said Highland coach Sarah Hennessey. "Emily pitched well and didn't have to throw a lot of pitches and Kelly did a good job behind the plate.
The Cardinals host Potosi in a big conference game Thursday (today).
