New phone?

By J. Patrick Reilly-preilly@thedodgevillechronicle.com

If all goes well, by the time your read this, I will have entered the world of the smart phones.
Hate to have something in my pocket that is smarter than me, but I guess that is the way the world is going.
When I first looked at a smart phone, I was guided through the many and vast features by my daughter. After about 15 minutes of instruction, she asked if I had any questions.
I did.
I asked if I would be able to make calls and talk on it.
"I forgot that," she said.
When I think of phones, I think of the old box with a crank on it we used to talk between our house and the barn.
I remember the old black phone with the rotary dial and yes, because we were rural, we had a party line.
That was better than television back then.
Phones have changed over the years and now people are on them all the time. Hate to see people talking when driving and totally hate seeing people texting while driving or in the company of others.
Maybe that is just me.
I am glad we have all the technology we have. I am glad to be a part of it.
And, I hope the phone lets me talk to and stay in touch with the people I care about.
