We really got some much needed rain last week. It came down in the 1-1.5 inch fashion and watered the ground very well for some fall moisture.

It looks as though the O'Reilly Auto Parts Store is getting closer to completion inside the Walmart property on the north side of Dodgeville. That will put three auto parts stores (Weaver's & NAPA) within a few blocks of distance between the three places.

I hear rumblings that a new business is coming to Dodgeville at the former Iowa County Humane Society location on Bennett Road. i hope to have more on that in the near future!

The Green Bay Packers are now the lone National Football League team to be unbeaten this season. Their 6-0 start of the season hasn't been done by that team since 1965. It would be nice to see them go unbeaten all season, both regular season and playoffs!

Speaking of the Packers, my cousin Jeanette, from Atlanta, went to the Falcons/Packers game a couple of weeks ago. I was going to call her in the fourth quarter, near the end of that game, and ask her the score, but I chickened out! By the way, she is also a Packers fan!

The Milwaukee Brewers picked the wrong time to "tank" out, especially the big two of Ryan Braun and Prince Fielder. And, oh those errors, walks and giving up home runs really hurt! But they had a really successful season, winning the Central Division National League championship and the first round of the playoffs. It would've been nice to have them playing the Texas Rangers for the World Series championship as both teams would be going for their first ever World Series title - but the St. Louis Cardinals have been the better team since the first part of August!

It's only a couple of weeks away - the 3rd Annual Halloween Street Party in Dodgeville - Saturday, October 29th. That's the same day as state cross country - hopefully the Dodgeville-Mineral Point teams will both be there and missing out on the "fun" in Dodgeville - but they won't mind a bit!

I had a fellow tell me a little story that I just HAD to relay. This fellow was on the main street of Dodgeville the other day and saw someone coming out of my late buddy's place - the "Not So" Quality Bakery. As he was heading to his car carrying the baked goods he had just purchased, 'lo and behold the car wasn't in the spot he had parked it. Somehow the car had slipped out of park and rolled across the street and hit another vehicle. The moral of that little story is: "Even cars don't want to be spotted in front of (or having anything to do with) that bakery place!
