Eagles trip Orioles in SRE match-up

Freshman Rachel Slaney had a triple double as Barneveld's volleyball team pulled the upset of the season by beating Six Rivers East power Argyle.
Argyle won games one and four 25-17 and 25-21. The Golden Eagles took the middle two sets 25-19, 26-24 before winning the decisive fifth match 15-10.
Slaney had 11 kills, 10 blocks and 15 services points which included a pair of aces.
Maddie Laube had 10 kills and 13 service points.
Samantha Evans led in service points with 18 and also had 10 blocks.
Danielle Straubhaar recorded 22 assists and 11 digs.
" A triple double by a freshman or anybody is really something," Barneveld coach Kevin Knudson said. "It was rewarding for the girls to come back from a tough loss last Tuesday and get a big win. The girls responded and played well."
Winning over the Orioles was not a surprise for Knudson.
"I thought we were capable of beating Argyle and we did," Knudson said. "It wasn't just one girl. It was the whole team. Everybody played their role."
The pivotal match in Barneveld's loss to Albany last week was a 31-29 loss.
"We were up 24-18 and never scored after that until they tied us. That really stunned me," Knudson said. "It was all on serve receive. I don't know how it happened."
Straubhaar had 21 assists in the game and Mindy Kelly served eight points. Slaney had 10 digs.
