Cards sweep Comets

Highland's volleyball team played well enough to sweep Cassville in three games Tuesday but they had their hands full doing it.
They beat the Comets 25-17 the first game then had to battle back in the second game to earn a 26-24 win. They eased to the decision in the third game, 25-11.
"We were pretty flat the second game," coach Maria Wineski said.
The Cardinals trailed by seven at 17-10 then started a comeback run. It was 21-16 when sophomore Leigh Drury served six straight points to put the Cardinals ahead, 22-21.
The Comets were able to take a 7-3 lead when the Cardinals missed three of their first five serves.
"Half their lead at the start came on our missed serves," Wineski said.
Shanaya Hebgen had 31 assists in the match for Highland. Taylor Wienkes had 13 kills and seven digs. Drury had four aces, three blocks and seven digs. Emily Wolfe recorded four aces.
The win put the Cardinals a 6-3 in the Six Rivers West. They are currently in third place.
