Dodger girls bounce Pec 6-1
"Carley had a little location problem early, but settled do" said Dodger coach Gene Van Dyck. Her velocity, ball movement and change of speed were all good, but best of all she was really locating her pitches well. She got ahead of the hitters with her fast ball and used her other pitches for strike outs."
On the day, Prochaska fanned five Vikings and didn't allow an earned run.
The visiting team from the Six Rivers East plated their lone urn in the third inning as Emma Marion was hit by a pitch and she came around on two Dodger errors.
Viking Michala Boese was 2x3 on the day with Marion, Michelle Francois and pinch hitter Hannah Swenson collecting the other safeties.
Viking hurler Cora Demler struck out two without issuing a free pass..
The Dodgers scored a run in the first inning to jump out to a lead. Steph Dalsing tripled and trotted home on Brooke Lee's single.
They scored three times in the fourth with Abby Prochaska singling in both Lee and Becca Veinberg, She then scored on Jess Reamon's double.
Their final two tallies came in the sixth as Veinberg singled, but was retired as Alison Rossing reached on a fielders choice. Abby Prochaska singled and both came home as Reamon's shot to third was mishandled. Sierra Oleson followed with a double, but Reamon was thrown out at the plate for the third out of the inning.
Reamon was 3x4 with a double while both Lee and Veinberg were 2x3. Dalsing and Oleson both had doubles.
"Steph caught her third game for us and did an excellent job both positioning herself to help Carley as well as receiving the ball," Van Dyck added. "Offensively, it was a game of pluses and minuses. We lost a hit when a hard shot by Sierra was fielded quickly by the right fielder and she was thrown out at first for the third out of an inning and our runner on third would've scored. And we would've had runners on first and second to lead off an inning except for a pop fly to right that fell in and Jess couldn't get far enough off of first to avoid being thrown out at second. But we had 11 hits on the day even though we had runners on several times with the top of our line up batting and couldn't score."
"Pecatonica played a good game. making most of the plays they needed to make to stay in the game."
The Dodgers area number three seed behind #1 River Valley and #2 Monroe and host Platteville Thursday (today) at 6:00 p.m. at Wilson Park.
