Dodgers hold on to beat Hillmen 10-7

With the batter at the plate that could tie the game Dodgeville relief pitcher Jacob Pluemer knew he had his work cut out for him.
Not to worry.
After giving up a hit to the first batter he faced with one out in the bottom of the seventh in a 10-7 battle with Platteville, Pluemer coaxed a fly ball into centerfielder Tanner Solberg's glove then struck out the final batter to preserve the win in SWC action Monday.
Pluemer was also a force at the plate, going 2x4 with a double and three rbis.
He was part of a back to back to back doubles parade in the first inning that helped the Dodgers to a 4-0 lead. Tanner Solberg and Greg Brennum doubled around Pluemer. Solberg drove in Kristian Haag who led off the game with a single and Tony Lease sent in Brennum with a single.
The Dodgers did the rest of their scoring in a six run second. Solberg, Pluemer and Nick Crowley had hits in the frame. Evan Rossing reached base after getting hit in the elbow and Brennum walked.
Haag finished the game 2x3 and Solberg went 3x5 with two doubles and two rbis. Brennum, Brad Simmons, Lease, Matt Crowley and Nick Crowley all had one hit.
Simmons got the win with five strong innings of work. He fanned six, walked one and gave up two hits and an unearned run.
Jasper Meeker worked the sixth, fanning one, walking one and giving up two hits. He gave up two earned runs.
Nick Crowley started the seventh then gave way to Pluemer for the save.
The Dodgers host Prairie du Chien today then head to Richland Center Friday for a double header. Monday they make up a game at Lancaster and Tuesday host Barneveld.
The Dodgers led River Valley 1-0 Friday when the game was halted for rain. A make-up date to finish the suspended game is pending.
