Highland girls get by Potosi in comeback win

Potosi put a scare into Highland Thursday in Six Rivers West softball action.
The Lady Chieftains held a 3-0 lead after four innings and pitcher Kristi Bartels was holding them at bay - until the fifth.
Cardinal Morgan Bomkamp started the frame with a single, but was ruled out for throwing her bat. Carlee Yanna walked and Emily Wolfe flew out.
That's when things started happening.
Emily Rose singled with two out and Rachel Aide drove in both Yanna and Rose with a single. Kendall Wienkes polled an rbi double and Taylor Wienkes drove in Kendall with another double. That put them up 4-3.
They plated an insurance tally in the sixth when Yanna doubled and sprinted home on Wolfe's single.
Potosi scored in the first when Abby Ames led off with a single and came home after an Audrie Runde single and a fielders choice by Hannah Scholbrok. Runde was thrown out at the plate.
They scored twice in the third as Ames singled, but was called out for leaving first early. Ames was safe on an error trying to sacrifice and Scholbrok walked. After a fly out, Jenna Kruser was safe on an error and both runs scored.
They had the bases loaded in the fifth, but Scholbrok was throw out at the plate and Wolfe got Clara White to ground out to end the threat.
The Cardinal hurler fanned four Potosi batters in the sixth as one reached on a dropped third strike. She set down two of the last three in the seventh via the strikeout.
"It was a good game for us, and a good wake up call. Potosi came out very fired up," said Highland coach Sarah Hennessey. "We had a couple errors that gave up two runs."
"Emily (Wolfe) had a great night on the mound she struck out 13 and we finally got our bats going in the 5th," Hennessey added. "It was great that we got this rally going with two outs."
"The girls never gave up and really battled back," she concluded.
