Eagles win slugfest with Monticello
The Golden Eagles won the first game 16-9 then were leading 9-3 in the fifth inning of the second game when it was halted because of darkness.

Jeremy Kitelinger got in 3 2/3 innings and fanned eight Monticello batters. He walked three and gave up six hits.
Cody Carmody took the mound next and fanned four in 2 1/3 while not giving up a hit or a walk.
Sawyer Lee came on to close. He gave up two hits, walked one and surrendered two runs.
Kitelinger's exit was hastened when the Ponies scored five time after two were out. All three of Kitelinger's walks came in that inning and the Ponies recorded four hits.

Carson Carmody drove in two runs in a 2x6 performance.
Brad Zander had a three run home run in the sixth and finished 1x4.
Travis Fenton plated three runs and was 1x3.
Beau Thompson had a 3x4 day at the plate, scored once and drove in a run in the fourth with a double.
Kitelinger was 3x4, scored a run and knocked in one with a double in the fourth.
"It was a pretty good victory, especially by getting to their pitchers like we did," coach Lance Schmitz said. "We only had five runs off their top pitcher last time so it is good to see how our guys have improved."
Schmitz also said the Eagles have been executing their bunts.
"We were safe three times in one inning on bunts," he said. "Our execution has really been good."
