Dodger girls humble Hornets in five

Dodgeville's softball team came up with a much needed win Friday when they 10-runed Richland Center 12-11 in five innings.
Carley Prochaska kept the Hornet hitters pretty much at bay, allowing only six hits, with three batters doing most of the damage.
Rochelle Gobin and Becca Luxton were both 2x3 and Abby Beranek poked a two baggers.
Goplin singled and scored the lone run in the third after a stolen base, and a single by Luxton, another stolen base and an error.
Prochaska struck out six and walked just one enroute to the win.
Sierra Oleson provided the power the Dodgers needed with a three-run homer in the first. She was 2x3 as was Alison Rossing, Becca Veinberg and Steph Dalsing. Abby Prochaska was 3x4.
Dalsing ended the game with a two-run single in the fifth that plated Abby Prochaska and Reamon.
Goplin, Richland Center's hurler, gave up 14 hits while striking out one and walking two.
"We had started to look like a good team, but we really needed to prove it," said Dodger coach Gene Van Dyck. "Richland Center had played us really tough at their place earlier and played Lancaster tough earlier in the week. As it turned out we continued to be on top of our game particularly on offense.."
"For the second game in a row Sierra hit a three run home run in the first and really set the stage for us - we never let up. We hit the ball extremely hard throughout the game. We had eight players get hits and eight players score runs."
"Carley continued to throw better ball and this time when the defense made a couple of mistakes she came up with some big strike outs."
